Book Signing, Hugo Finalists, and…Peony Plushie!

Hi, folks! It has been a wild week, and we’ve got amazing news to share! Let’s start with…

The Peony plushie campaign!

Beginning April 27 and running until May 6, we’re collecting pledges on MakeShip to make the Peony Plushie a reality!

If you’re unfamiliar with MakeShip’s pledge-to-product process, here’s how it works:

  • There’s a ten-day window for Team Sidequested to collect 200 unique digital “pledges.” Each pledge is $2.00 USD. If we hit 200 pledges, then the Peony plushie gets made and your pledge will be converted to a payment. However, if the campaign fails, you will receive a full refund.
  • If we hit 200 pledges, then Makeship will charge you the remaining cost (around $28 + shipping and tax) when the product launches in about 1-4 months.
  • All production and shipment will be handled by MakeShip. They offer a flat worldwide shipping rate of $8.99. However, you may need to pay additional taxes or surcharges based on your country of residence, so please check your local requirements.

As with other online funding campaigns, 200 pledges is the minimum needed to put Peony into production, but if we get bigger pledge numbers, we may be able to add some bonus goodies to the package.

Next up…our other webcomic is a finalist for this year’s…

Hugo Awards!

Act 3 of A Girl and Her Fed finished in October 2025, making us eligible for this year’s award. Being nominated and making it to the finals is such an incredible honor.

And a book signing!

This was a last-minute event which we slammed together when Ale realized she was coming to Manhattan with her family. Bailey Tamayo, our agent, got us a SideQuested signing at an adorable local store, Books of Wonder, and then…the unimaginable happened: Ale and KB were in the same place at the same time!

We are unbelievably grateful that our readers could be there to hear us discuss the rules of magic (excessively complicated), love triangles (the only one who knows she’s in one is Charlie), and family drama. Then we went to a coffee shop and signed tons of books and bookplates, and will likely do something fun with these in the near future.

But for now, we are very, very tired.

Best from Ale and KB!
